The bay stood and watched his empty terra as the early morning sun began to light up the sky. The grass that was neither long nor short, covered his tanned scimitars up to his coronets, the dewdrops dampening his pillars. Birds had awoken earlier this dawning, and they had already begun to let their song carry across the field. Zanzibar snuffled the grass, his muzzle becoming moist. He opened his maw and tore at the delicious roots. The air was still quite cool, but any horse's instincts would be able to tell that it was going to be a humid and annoyingly hot day, not only because it was summer, but from the direction of the wind. He shook his sleek summer coat free of the few droplets of sweat that clung to his hide. His ebony banner danced and tossed itself around his boa, his whipcord swishing impatiently at the flies. He tentively raised a jet fore-column, listening to the sounds of the wildlife around him. Although no equine lived here with him, his territory was home to many birds, insects and rodents. He arched his crest and trotted out into the center of the meadow where a small pool rippled as the breeze pushed against it. He lowered his dial and stuck his dark stained muzzle into the water as it ran down the back of his thorat. He wondered silently to himself if another horse would join him. It didn't really matter to him, but it was always nice to have company from his own race...
